Free IRS-table estimate
Required Minimum Distribution Calculator
Estimate an annual RMD from your prior-year retirement account balance and age using the IRS Uniform Lifetime Table.
Estimated annual RMD
$18,868
Monthly equivalent
$1,572
IRS distribution factor
26.5
Estimated withdrawal rate: 3.77%. This uses the IRS Uniform Lifetime Table and assumes your spouse is not your sole beneficiary more than 10 years younger than you.
Your custodian may calculate an amount for each account, but you remain responsible for taking the correct distribution. Inherited accounts, qualifying plans for current employees, and substantially younger spouses can use different rules or tables.
Formula and source
Annual RMD equals the account balance on December 31 of the previous year divided by the distribution-period factor for your current age. The factors come from the Uniform Lifetime Table in IRS Publication 590-B.
When this estimate is not enough
A different table can apply when a spouse more than 10 years younger is the sole beneficiary. Inherited IRAs, missed distributions, current-employer plan exceptions, multiple account types, and first-year timing can also change the result or deadline.
